EPA Recognizes Actus Lend Lease With 2010 ENERGY STAR Excellence In ENERGY STAR Promotion Award For a second year in a row, Actus Lend Lease earns award for protecting the environment through energy efficiency

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has once again named Actus Lend Lease as a 2010 Excellence in ENERGY STAR Promotion Award winner for its outstanding contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by educating new homebuyers about the value of choosing an ENERGY STAR qualified home. Actus was recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on March 18, 2010.

Actus Lend Lease, an ENERGY STAR partner since 2007, and recipient of the 2009 Excellence in ENERGY STAR Promotion Award, was honored for its work building homes that meet ENERGY STAR guidelines and communicating to customers about the features and benefits of these homes. New homes built by Actus include a variety of features to meet ENERGY STAR ratings and help promote energy conservation such as ENERGY STAR appliances, radiant barriers on roofs, dual glaze windows, efficient heating and cooling equipment and compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). The Fort Drum Community (www.fortdrummch.com) is the largest community of ENERGY STAR qualified homes in New York.

Actus Lend Lease has garnered many awards for its energy conservation initiatives including New York State's Highest Energy Star Award in 2007 and the 2007 Outstanding Achievement Award in Energy Efficiency awarded by the Hawaii Energy Alliance. Actus was also chosen by the U.S. Department of Energy to launch its Operation Change Out program. The first national, military-focused, energy-efficiency campaign, Operation Change Out encourages every serviceman and woman to save energy, money, and protect the environment by replacing their inefficient, incandescent light bulbs with ENERGY STAR qualified bulbs.

Last year alone, Americans with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved $17 billion on their energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 30 million vehicles.

“Actus Lend Lease believes ENERGY STAR provides great value to our residents,” said Dale Connor, managing director for Actus Lend Lease. “We are continually searching for innovative, new ways to show customers how ENERGY STAR qualified homes can save them money and protect the environment. Our partnership with ENERGY STAR is an example of how energy efficiency is a fundamental part of our business.”

The Excellence in ENERGY STAR Promotion Award is given to a variety of organizations to recognize their efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce pollution, resulting in significant cost savings. Award winners are selected from more than 17,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program.

“Thanks to partners like Actus Lend Lease that build ENERGY STAR homes, American home buyers can choose more comfortable homes that also help them save money and protect the environment,” said Gina McCarthy, EPA Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation. ”In 2009, the Nation reached the milestone of one million ENERGY STAR homes built since the program’s inception.”
